Well, I bought a sectional sofa three years ago. I also bought a twin bed and a dining room set.

My sofa is destroyed. It has peeled beyond belief, and it is even coming lose in some stitches. The sectional has not been subject to any excessive use, just normal everyday use of sitting on it to watch TV and have ocassional visitors. I just called in to EL DORADO and a customer service rep, RICARDO, told me that yes, they can help by calling a third party and have them fix it at my expense.

And of course, he told me that I was sold a low-quality leather sofa, and therefore was not going to last. Basically, he told me that the roughly $3,000 I spent just bought me cheap leather. Obviously, when I bought the sofa I was told I was buying genuine leather. When I told Ricardo, he just said that he doesn't know what the salesman told me and that he couldn't help me beyond what he had offered.

When I asked to talk to his supervisor he put me on hold for close to half an hour, hoping I was going to tire and hang up. Instead, I called from another number and got transferred to a "supervisor" relatively quickly. ROXY told me that there was not much to be done, but still asked me to send in a couple of pictures. I did.

I guess she was moved or embarrassed of the poor condition of the three-year old sofa that she said that although the factory couldn't do anything, corporate was willing to give me a $300 discount on another sofa. I appreciate its, but NO, thank you. I would never buy again from a furniture store that misleads its customers into buying furniture believing its good quality to then have to replace it in three years. I rather spend my money somewhere else.

I tell you, my dining room set also has to be replaced. I've bought furniture at Ikea and other more affordable and less "luxurious" furniture stores that have lasted more than three years. I've replace them because I wanted to not because I needed to. I feel like I just moved in to a new place because after three years I have to replace ALL the furniture I bought at EL DORADO.

Beware buyers: You can get better quality at a better price almost ANYWHERE.

It's a shame the vision and what EL DORADO used to stand for not longer exists.

Roxy, thank you for trying, but $300 is not enough. I will buy my furniture somewhere else and make sure I save my friends and anybody who would listen the pain of buying at EL DORADO :(
